Philly Marathon Training W6D6
I wasn’t present for the first 5 miles of this easy 8-miler. I was physically present, but not mentally. All I could hear was cha-ching, cha-ching and I was just trying to run through all of the scenarios to figure out the logistics of potentially not having a car tomorrow and beyond.
If you saw my earlier post, I did find my Fitbit out on my driveway (it’s still working after being out there all night, although it did report thousands more steps than the same route yesterday…hmmm). My car, however, definitely does have something wrong. Not sure how serious, but something that is not supposed to be hanging off of the bottom, is hanging off the undercarriage. And since I know nothing about cars, that is about the extent of how technical I can get. And, as far as the smoke detectors go, it’s going to cost somewhere between $400-500 to replace them all. So, after figuring that the $450 that we had to spend yesterday for back to school clothes and shoes plus about $300 that still remains to be spent for school supplies and haircuts would be the extent of our major expenditures this week, I realize this is just the tip of the iceberg. It’s a good thing I don’t have a mortgage payment due in a week. Oh, wait…
After 5 miles in, I realized that I wasn’t going to solve any of the money or logistical problems on my own during the run, so I decided to concentrate on the task at hand and did a much better job maintaining my paces.
So, with that, week 6 of marathon training is done. This week ended up being about 37.5 miles. Ladies and gentlemen, marathon training has officially begun!
Week 7 is going to bring 38 miles consisting of easy 4, 8 x 600 speed session, 5 mile tempo, easy 4, easy 6, and long 10. In week 8, we will break into the 40’s for total mileage and before we know it, will be up into the 50’s. My last marathon training plan topped out at 40 for the weekly mileage. So, I am excited to see how much better prepared the Hansons plan is going to get me for the marathon. Twelve more weeks!
Hope you all have a great Sunday!
