Philly Marathon Training W7D2
Stick a fork in me, I’m done.
Today’s scheduled run was 6 x 800 with a target of 4:55 per interval with a 400 recovery plus a warm-up and cooldown mile.
I see what you guys are saying that that second lap of the 800 is tough. First lap goes by fine, then, oh man, there’s another one. I know that my speed intervals are the equivalent of a stroll for some of you folks, but for me, that was work!
Let me tell you something, the longest lap is the second 400 of the 800 and the shortest lap is the 400 recovery. That’s 100% truth.
So, as you can see, I did make my 4:55 target. However, as usual, it seems as though I just don’t keep my pace down as I should. I exceeded target by quite a margin. You may wonder if I just am not shooting high enough on my marathon goal time. But, I don’t think that to be the case. Based on my 5k and 10k times, I am shooting for the appropriate time for me. I think I am just having poor execution when it comes to pacing.
Okay, if you need me, I can be found on the couch. Forever.
